| The Telecommunications Act of 1996 directs all federal
agencies to assist in the national goal of achieving a seamless telecommunications
system throughout the U.S. by accommodating requests by telecommunication
companies for the use of property, rights-of-way, and easements to
the extent allowable under each agency's mission. Unlike other nonconforming
uses, the National Park Service is legally obligated to permit telecommunication
infrastructure within the parks if such facilities can be structured
to avoid interference with park purposes. |
